Emmerdale Star to Switch on Leyland Lights
LEYLAND Town Team have signed up another top soap star to light up the town’s festivities. Award winning Danny Miller, from the popular ITV soap opera Emmerdale, is the latest in a string of celebrities to pull the switch.
This year’s much-anticipated Christmas Lights Switch-On
will take place on stage at Hough Lane on Saturday November 24
Danny, who hails from Stockport, Greater Manchester, plays a leading role as Aaron Dingle and has won several awards, including British Soap Award for Best Actor three times (2011, 2012 and 2016).
The soap star is also a Co-founder of ‘Once Upon A Smile, the charity project which provides emotional and practical support to families at times of need, enabling them to adjust to a new life without a loved one. They support Andrew, Lisa and Xander Roussos, originally based in Leyland, who lost their daughter Saffie in the tragic Manchester Arena bombing in 2017.
This year is the fourth year in which the hard-working Leyland Town, along with south Ribble Borough Council, have put together a ‘Light Up Leyland’ Christmas Festival for us to enjoy. Danny Miller is the latest in an impressive line-up of celebrities to throw the switch. Comedian Dave Spikey set the baubles rolling back in 2015, followed by Corrie actor Sam Aston (Chesney Brown) 2016 and last year Simon Gregson, who plays Steve MacDonald in Coronation Street, did the honours.
It promises to be a great event, well done to everyone involved involved in the organisation and planning.
