MOTORISTS are invited to enjoy free parking this Christmas, as the council’s way of saying “Merry Christmas” to residents.
Council-run car parks will be free of charge after 10am each day, from Monday 11 December up to (and including) Saturday 23 December 2017.
The council has introduced the free parking to help ease the strain on finances and enter into the spirit of giving. It is hoped the move will help local businesses whose customers will be able to park for free and do as much Christmas shopping as they like.
Councillor Graham Walton, South Ribble Borough Council cabinet member for neighbourhoods and street scene, said: “Christmas is a time of giving and getting into the festive spirit.
“That’s why we’re really happy to be supporting local businesses in offering free parking to shoppers and visitors to South Ribble.
“This will ensure every penny can go on gifts and treats rather than parking.
“I’d like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas, and I hope people across South Ribble will enjoy doing their Christmas shopping in the borough.”
